5/18/13 UPDATE: From today's 'Out of the Blue' Department: The
1/18 scale Gosser
Beer BMW 3.5 CSL ($130.00) arrived from Minichamps on Friday.
We ordered them in June of 2009.
Not bad, right?
And from today's 'What were
they thinking?' Department: TSM recently delivered both their
1/18
scale JPS Team Lotus Figurine Set ($66.50) and their 1/18
scale JPS Team Lotus Showcase ($50.00) in the same shipment.
Both are fine items. Only trouble is, the 'Low Profile' cover
shipped with the JPS Showcase is too low for the figures to be
displayed inside. To solve that problem, you can order TSM's
higher profile cover for an additional $20. Unfortunately, they
do not appear to offer the taller cover with the JPS (or any
other) custom base in their Showcase series.
And you wonder why I'm aging
poorly.
A little tip. It may be a good
idea to acquire either a Showcase or Figurine Set for future
use, just in case TSM gets around to building their 1/18 Lotus
78 or Minichamps their 1/18 Lotus 79. Just sayin'.
5/17/13 UPDATE: Leaving for Indy in less than a week. Looks like
we're going to be pretty busy until then. As promised yesterday,
we have listed more than 50
fresh titles to the Out
of Print book section of Private
Collection. There are some great softbound reference books
in there at bargain prices. Take a look.
I'll be adding 1/18 scale models
to the TWM
Collection section the rest of the afternoon. New items HERE.

5/16/13 UPDATE: My apologies for the lack of updates on this page
in recent weeks.
Since our last entry, in addition
to yet another large shipment from Spark, we have agreed to offer
for sale more than 300 1/18 scale models from the TWM
Collection along with books, models and other items from
several other private collections (watch for more than 50 new
listings of out-of-print books in our Private
Collection section by the end of the day and 30+new listings
to the TWM
Collection by the weekend).
Before we leave for Indy next
week, I'm going to take a good look at this page and will see
what we can do to make it more timely and current. Your imput
would be appreciated. Drop me a note
if you have a suggestion.
Speaking of Indy, we will again
be participating in the Indy Motorsports Memorabilia Experience
at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the day before the 500. We
will not be at the Indiana State Fairgrounds show. Details
next week.
4/22/13 UPDATE: Our 'Early April' shipment from Spark / Bizarre
/ TSM turned out to be a 'mid-to-late April' arrival, thanks
again to our local FedEx Ground 'service'. Highlights include
the 2012 LeMans winning Audil in 1/43 scale and the 1967 Targa
Florio version of the Chaparral 2F from TSM. A rundown of that
shipment can be found HERE.
Those of you who are Email Update
subscribers are aware of the fact that several interesting book
and model collections have arrived here in recent weeks. Our
April additions can be found HERE.
4/3/13 UPDATE: We have now uploaded the 2013 Spark Product list
as a pdf file. Download it HERE.
Spark has instituted another round of price increases, most significantly
on 1/43 scale offerings. All models delivered after the current
inbound shipment (discussed below) will be at the new price level.
3/29/13 UPDATE: The 2012 LeMans Winning Audi is among more than
40 new releases from Spark, TSM and Bizarre that will be here
next week. Check out the full list HERE.
2/28/13 UPDATE: CarTech Auto Books has just published 'Lost
Drag Strips: Ghosts of Quarter-Miles Past' , a well illustrated
160 page softbound book featuring 28 tracks from around the countrly,
including two of local interest to Chicagoans. Both US 30 Drag
Strip and Oswego Drag Raceway are featured - US 30 is featured
prominently on the cover - along with tracks like Riverside,
Orange County. Loudon and Green Valley.
Nearly 300 color photos take
you back to their prime as well as documenting their present
