Michael Turner - Graham
Turner
7th Biannual Exhibition
February 22 - 26, 2000
- The Carisbrooke Gallery, London
The father - son team of Michael and Graham Turner
held their 7th Biannual Exhibition at the Carisbrooke Gallery
near Marble Arch in Central London in late February. It was the
most impressive of the Turner London Exhibitions yet, with more
than 135 pieces of original art, covering the Turners' specialties
of motor racing, aviation, military and midieval history, on display
along with the full range of Studio 88 prints, greeting cards,
calendars, books and collector plates.
After greetings from both artists,
the Exhibition was officially declared open by former Formula
One team owner Ken Tyrrell, a long time Turner collector. Tyrrell
graciously loaned several paintings from his private collection
to be shown at this year's Exhibition.

Since each was commissioned to commemorate
significant Team Tyrrell victories, Ken took great joy in explaining
the story behind each one.
Looking very fit after a stay at the Mayo Clinic
last year, Tyrrell was also quite taken by Michael's painting
of an RAF Mosquito bomber entitled 'Find the Tirpitz' and the
latest Turner original to grace his walls; a portrait montage
featuring him surrounded by the significant cars and personalities
from his illustrious Grand Prix career. The painting (shown below)
was a gift from British American Tobacco, presented at the annual
Autosport Awards banquet in December.

Among the racing luminaries in
attendance at the Opening were former Tyrrell designer Derek Gardner
and Grand Prix legends Tony Brooks and Sir Stirling
Moss.

A new Michael Turner print was announced
at the Exhibition. It is 'Clark Supreme', an open edition
print commemorating Jim Clark's victory in the 1963 Belgian Grand
Prix at Spa driving a Lotus-Climax. The print will be available
at TMC in March for $45.00 plus shipping.
