Few individuals in the history of motor
racing are as beloved as the late, great Gilles Villeneuve. His
brash driving style - always on the ragged edge - earned him legions
of admirers around the world. On October 8, 1978, driving a Ferrari
312T3, Villeneuve scored his first Grand Prix triumph in front
of a home-town crowd on the new Ile Notre Dame circuit in Montreal.
On the podium, an emotional Villeneuve accepted the laurels of
victory from Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. After Villeneuve's
tragic death in 1982, the Ile Notre Dame circuit was renamed Circuit
Gilles Villeneuve.
English artist Nicholas A. Watts has
captured the essence of the legendary Villeneuve in this brilliant
acrylic on canvas painting commissioned and published by The Motorsport
Collector. 'Ragged Edge' is available in a limited edition of
500 prints, each signed and numbered by the artist.
