In 1969, Team McLaren dominated the
Canadian American Challenge Cup Series for the third straight
year with Bruce McLaren and Denis Hulme winning all eleven races
driving the high-winged McLaren M8B's. At Michigan International
Speedway on September 28, Bruce McLaren fielded a third works
car for Dan Gurney after his M6B 'McLeagle' suffered engine problems
in practice. The trio dominated the race, lapping the entire field
on the way to a 1-2-3 finish.
