Scale Trans Am Series

1996 would mark the 30th Anniversary
for the SCCA Trans Am Championship. It would also mark the return
of a Sunoco sponsored Camaro. Absent since the late '60s, the
late, great Mark Donohue won two of his Trans Am Championships
piloting Sunoco Camaros.
For the 1996 version, who better
than Ron Fellows to pilot the 310 cubic inch 570 HP V-8? Fellows
led the most laps in the 1994 and 1995 Trans Am seasons, winning
5 of the 11 races held in '95, which helped Chevrolet win a record
setting 14th Trans Am Manufacturers Championship.
In 1996, Fellows scored 4 wins, 2 pole
positions, 3 fastest laps and led a total of 175 laps in this
car on his way to a third place finish in the Series.
GMP's new 1/18 scale model of the Sunoco
Camaro features a removable cowling, detailed engine, suspension
and interior and has been produced in a Limited Edition of 2,504
pieces.
