'Putting the Cat Out' was produced to commemorate Porsche's victory over
the Jaguar team at LeMans in 1987 and is, in my humble opinion,
one of Fearnley's finest paintings as well as the best selling
Fearnley in our history. The entire edition was hand signed by
the three winning drivers: Derek Bell, Hans J. Stuck and the late
Al Holbert. As a Christmas gift that year, Porsche UK purchased
framed copies for each of it's British dealers. TWR Jaguar Team
leader Tom Walkinshaw, also a Porsche dealer, was said to be less
than enthusiastic about his gift that year!
Alan Fearnley is well known for his
remarqued prints. A remarque is a small pencil sketch, hand-drawn by
the artist in the border area of the print. These are usually
made to order and quite rare.
Double-matted and framed with a handsome
dark wood moulding.
