CHAPARRALS AT ROAD
AMERICA
JULY 19-22, 2001
It was a very special
weekend indeed, with legendary designer - driver Jim Hall bringing
4 of his fabulous Chaparral sports racers to Road America; the
1965 12 Hours of Sebring (and USRRC) winning Chaparral 2A, the
high-winged 1966 Chaparral 2E Can Am car, the 1967 Chaparral 2F
that won the 1000km World Endurance Championship race at Brands
Hatch and the 1970 Chaparral 2J 'Sucker Car' that used a snowmobile
engine to create a partial vacuum underneath the car in one of
the first practical uses of 'ground effects' in racing history.
Also in attendance was an original Chaparral 1, now in private
hands.

Road America organized
several autograph sessions over the course of the weekend, allowing
the enthusiastic fans to meet some of the racing legends in attendance.
