CHAPARRAL GALLERY -Page 3

After the tour of Chaparral Cars, we were given a ride around Rattlesnake Raceway.

Below, one of three working oil wells on the Rattlesnake Raceway property is located just off the skid pad.

It must have been an amazing advantage for Chaparral (headquartered deep in West Texas) to have their own 'secret' test track.

After the Tour, Pete Lyons hosted a Panel Discussion back at the Museum. The panel consisted of Jim Hall, Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Vic Elford, Brian Redman, Ronnie Hissom, Gil de Ferran and Franz Weis. The dias was so crowded, Hall sat with Moderator Lyons. We were treated to nearly two hours of tall tales, racing history (same thing!) and an autograph session with some of the greatest names in the sport.

Before the Discussion began, Franz Weis and Brian Redman reunite while Pete Lyons tells Dan Gurney about the one that got away.

Franz Weis and Troy Rogers.

Vic Elford keeps the audience in stitches with his dry, English delivery.

Ronnie Hissom and Brian Redman don't believe a word of it!

Pete Lyons and Jim Hall. Eventually, they found a chair for Jim.

Friday night, a Gala Banquet was held under a tent outside the Museum.

Left - Dan Gurney and the beautiful and gracious Sandy Hall. Right - Gurney, Sandy and Jim Hall, Alma and Phil Hill.

It was quite a day.
