MERCEDES-BENZ
RACING CAR TRANSPORTER, 1954
In 1954 a special and uniquely hand
built vehicle appeared from the workshops of Daimler-Benz: the
Mercedes-Benz racing car transporter. With its deep blue colored
Daimler-Benz paintwork, the soft curves of the chassis and a maximum
speed of 105 mph, it caused just as much wonderment as the racing
cars on the loading bed.
After Daimler-Benz withdrew from Formula
1 racing at the end of 1955, this vehical disappeared from the
public view. Sadly, the original was scrapped in 1967.
At the beginning of the 1990's, under
the direction of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, a replica of
the original was constructed and has since appeared at European
vintage events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
CMC Exclusive Modelle of Germany has
produced high quality replicas of the Mercedes-Benz racing car
transporter in both 1/18 and 1/43 scale. The 1/43 scale version
is completely sold out. The 1/18 scale version will be limited
to 2,000 pieces. More than 400 parts will be hand assembled to

tightener the fastening of the racing car to the transporter.
- Support jacks for metal loading ramps, dismountable
from the stowing space on the spare wheels.
- Brilliant high polished paintwork in the
original Daimler-Benz blue.
