Eagle's Race
Although some Christmas catalogs are
offering the forthcoming Eagle's Race series of Porsche 956's
in 1/18 scale, we're told that the first cars will not appear
until May of 2000. We hope the attention to detail is better on
these than on their Porsche 917's from this year. If they're good,
we'll carry them.
Previously, we've never been overly
impressed with Eagle's Race 1/43 scale die cast but their new
series of Corvette Grand Sports have changed all that. Seven variations
are planned, the first of which are due to arrive later this month.
We expect an SRP of under $20 (!), making these little beauties
an extraordinary value.
They'll also give you something to
look at while your waiting for your Exoto 1/18 Grand Sports!

Four Coupe and three Roadster versions
of the Corvette Grand Sports have been announced, including this
Thompson/Guildstrand Roadster from Sebring '66.
And the '64 Sebring Coupe driven by
AJ Foyt and John Cannon.
The other '64 Sebring Coupe driven
by Johnson/Morgan.
And the distinctive Chaparral Coupe
driven by Roger Penske and Jim Hall at Road America in '64.
The George Wintersteen Roadster as
driven at Bridgehampton in 1966.
