2002
INTERNATIONAL MODEL and HOBBY EXPO

Sparked by his love of the Indianapolis 500, Frank
Dalton founded Carousel 1 in the late 1990's. The company's first
release was A.J. Foyt's 1961 Indy winning Watson roadster in 1/18
scale. It was a quick sell-out. Carousel followed up with additional
1/18 Watson and Kurtis roadsters over the next couple of years,
then expanded their range to include rear engined Eagle and McLaren
Indy cars from the 1970's. After an ill-conceived turn into sports
cars with their series of Corvettes, a wonderful series of 1/43
Indy cars under the Hobby Horse brand name began to appear in
late 2000.
In 2003, Carousel 1 will return to the 60's with three new cars in 1/18 scale:
- A.J. Foyt's 1967 Indy 500 winning Coyote.
- Dan Gurney's 1967 Belgian Grand Prix winning Eagle Weslake.
-Jim Clark's 1965 Indianapolis 500 winning Lotus 38 Ford.
We saw photos of the first 'patterns' of all three models and they looked very exciting indeed. All three cars were quite similar in real life, but each had its distinct character. Carousel is planning to release all three new models in the Spring of 2003 (A.J. in April, Dan in May, Jimmy in June) but at this stage of the design and production, delays are inevitable. We will keep you advised here at TMC. Other versions of the Coyote and 'speedway' versions of the 66 - 67 Gurney Eagle will follow.
Other releases in Carousel's Watson, Kurtis, McLaren and Eagle series will appear in 2002. Most were originally scheduled for 2002, but delayed.
