TMC'S SPECIAL
REPORT:
2002
INTERNATIONAL MODEL and HOBBY EXPO
Exoto showed a wide selection of exquisite
1/18 and 1/10 scale models, some of which are available now, some
at very hazy dates in the future. The highlights included a selection
of Chaparral Can Am and Endurance racers, Ford GT Mk II and Mk
IV prototypes (in 1/10 and 1/18), Shelby Cobras, future versions
of Exoto's fabulous Sauber C9, Ferrari 312T2 GP cars and various
Porsche racers. Unveiled at the show were prototypes of Exoto's
1/18 scale Lola T-70 Coupes and Roadsters, a selection of McLaren
Can Am cars (works M8 variations), several new diorama bases and
paint finishes, a highly detailed model of Barney Oldfield's Ford
999 and perhaps Exoto's crowning achievement; the ultimate 1/18
scale Porsche 917/30.
We'll start with Exoto's impressive
range of Chaparrals in
1/18 scale.
One surprise at the Exoto display was
this prototype of the famous Ford 999 racing car. Production versions
will be partially constructed out of wood, as was the original
car. The model will also feature moving engine parts. We'll keep
you advised.

Lots of Fords on the Exoto display,
including prototypes of several variations of their proposed 1/10
scale Ford Mk II (left) and 1/18 Ford Mk IV's (right). The photo
on the right also shows the nose of a 1/10 Ford Mk IV prototype.

GT's and 999 for you HERE.
