1Carousel 1 unveiled two new models and an extremely ambitious 2001 Release Schedule at the Chicago Hobby Show.
The first release in their eagerly anticipated series
of Dan Gurney Eagles from the 1970's was on display. The 1975
Indianapolis 500 winning Jorgenson Eagle driven by Bobby Unser
is perhaps the finest piece yet from Carousel. Unfortunately,
it's release has been delayed to early 2001. We're accepting advance
orders at $119.95.
In it's place, Carousel will released the recently announced Johnny Rutherford 1964 Bardahl Special Watson roadster, seen here. Delivery is expected later this month. $109.95 plus shipping, advance orders accepted.
The big news at C-1 was the announcement of a new series of McLaren M16 Indy Cars, beginning with the 1974 Indianapolis 500 winning Gulf McLaren of Johnny Rutherford. SRP for the new series was announced at $129.95, and if the quality and detail are anything like the Jorgenson Eagle, they will be well worth the price.
JR's 1974 McLaren is scheduled to appear around the time of the 2001 Indianapolis 500.
Other highlights in Carousel's 2001 lineup include 2 more Indy winners; the 1953 Bill Vukovich Fuel Injection Special Kurtis Roadster and Pat Flaherty's John Zink Special Watson Roadster from 1956. Both are priced at $109.95.
A total of 12 new cars appear on Carousel 1's 2001 Release Schedule. That's not counting the two Eagles (the Unser car and a Billy Vukovich Sugaripe Prune Special) that were originally announced for this year, but have been pushed back. Considering C-1 managed to bring about half that total to market in 2000, we think this schedule may be a bit optimistic. We're not talking 'exoto' scale optimism, but we'll see how they stick to those dates. As always, stay tuned to www.motorsportcollector.com for the latest 'non-fiction'.
