2000 Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch
This 18 year old American's name is Danica
Patrick, and we think you're going to be hearing a lot about her
in the future.
Her impressive second place finish
was the best ever by a woman at the prestigious Formula Ford Festival.
Driving a Mygale for Haywood Racing,
Danica started 10th in the Final and worked her way up to a second
place finish behind teammate Anthony Davidson of England. Her
lightning fast reflexes on standing starts were a major factor
in her success, along with a smooth, fast style and the maturity
and quick reflexes to avoid situations developing around her.
The Formula Ford Festival has been
a showcase for young talent for nearly 30 years, but the spotlight
on the Brands Hatch event intensified when the 1998 winner Jenson
Button - also driving a Mygale for Haywood Racing - rocketed to
Formula One just one season after his Festival triumph.
