Show Report is now on line. It features the fantastic line of
1/18 models by Exoto.
As we've said, a shipment of new 1/18 scale Auto Art models arrived last week. As we slowly but surely catch up from the activity of the past week or so, we will be uploading photos of these great new models. First up are versions of Klaus Ludwig's 1998 FIA GT winning Mercedes Benz CLK LM's that have just been released. It's a stunning piece of work from Auto Art, one of their best efforts yet. 10/26/00 Update: Back in town with lots of work on my desk. Some significant new pieces arrived while I was away, including the 1/18 Action 2000 Indy Winner of Juan Pablo Montoya (a few cars still available at $79.95), the 1/18 Action 2000 Kenny Brack Reynard (only 1,002 produced, also $79.95), the A.J. Foyt 1/12 scale Dirt Champ Car from GMP (sorry, sold out) and the long awaited reprint of Mark Donohue's 'The Unfair Advantage' ($49.95 hardbound, $24.95 softbound) and the just released tribute book 'Greg Moore: A Legacy of Spirit ($29.95).
We'll be making several updates to www.motorsportcollector.com in the next few days, including;
- More photos and comments from last week's National Hobby Show in Chicago.
- Photos of the new models (listed above) that arrived while I was away.
- New releases from Exoto that are due in the next few days.
- A selection of prints from two artists not previously featured on our website.
- News about a promising young American driver on the International scene.
- Some neat new cars featured at the UK Motor Show this week.

10/19/00 Update: I spent most of the day at the National Model and Hobby Show, where some fantastic new models were introduced for production in 2001. We'll post a full report next week, but here are the first photos anywhere of some great new pieces.

We now have a pre-production sample of the Creative Masters Ford GT40 1969 LeMans Winner on display at our Downers Grove, Illinois Gallery. Come on in and take a look. The Limited Edition of 3,000 ($129.95) is now 'on the water' and will be here in a few weeks.
Minichamps will release the 2000 BAR models in the next week or two and the situation will be pretty much the same as the 1999 BAR 'Zipper' Cars. They are not going to be distributed in the US. As before, we will have them anyway. Don't let the Canadian dealers trick you into paying the extra shipping charges from the Great White North. We'll take your orders for both JV and Zonta in both 1/18 and 1/43 scale.
I'll be in the UK for a few days, working on some new projects for Christmas and beyond. Rob and Jim will take care of things while I'm away. The full Hobby Show report will be posted when I get back. We're also expecting delivery of some great new books and models in the next couple of weeks.

10/18/00 Update: The 1/64 Montoya Indy Winner is here. It's big brother will arrive next week. We'll take a few additional orders for the 1/18 scale version at $79.95 plus shipping. Only 2,304 pieces have been produced. If you collect Indy Winners - or Future World Champions, now is the time to act.

10/14/00 Update: Five new 1/43 scale Ferrari 312B's from Brumm arrived

Michael Schumacher Ferrari is a different story. To be kind,
it's a toy masquerading as a collector's die cast. I won't tell
you what I really think. I just hope the 1/18 and 1/43 pieces

10/6/00 Update: A few new pieces have been added to our October 2000 Die Cast Arrival page in today's first update, including the cleverly disguised car above. Check 'em out HERE.
We've updated our Exoto section with photo sets of the two Corvette Grand Sport Roadsters released in the past few weeks. Production is said to be quite limited. The silver car is especially photogenic. Both are in stock for $149.95 each.
Our final update of the day is the addition of the entire Michael Schumacher Signature Series to our Memorabilia Section.

10/5/00 Update: Auto Art is releasing a great bunch of new 1/18 scale models this month, including the long awaited Jaguar XK SS and Mercedes Benz CLK GTR. View the complete list HERE. Order two or more cars from this list (or any other in-stock Auto Art or UT 1/18 model) before October 15, and we'll knock off 10%.

10/4/00 Update: As you can see by the photo at the top of this page, the Creative Masters 1968 LeMans winning Gulf Wyer Ford GT40 exists and was well worth the wait. This stunning piece has been produced in a limited production run of just 3,000 pieces. Our distributor misled us a bit (so what else is new?) on the release date, but expect them around Thanksgiving. We still have a few cars available at $129.95. Reserve now.
Remember, the 1969 LeMans winning version released by Creative Masters years ago has sold for more than $600.00 in recent years.
Two new models arrived today: Carousel 1's latest Kurtis Kraft Roadster, the 1956 Rodger Ward Filter Queen Special, is just beautiful ($109.95 plus shipping). Pre-orders ship tomorrow. Take a look at photos HERE. An unusual release from Action Performance is this Limited Edition (just 834 available!!) 2001 Indianapolis 500 Event Car ($79.95), built on their 1/18 scale G-Force mold. This piece features a removable engine cover and kick plate, a detailed Olds Aurora engine and original graphics. Photos HERE.

The latest Carousel 1 release, the Rodger Ward Kurtis Roadster, is due to arrive any minute. We'll post photos as soon as they do, and all pre-orders should ship by the end of the week. A bit of bad news to report from Carousel, looks like the Bobby Unser 1975 Indianapolis 500 winning Jorgenson Eagle will miss Christmas. We'll keep you advised.
