8/28/02 MID-DAY UPDATE: Lots of new models today, along with some restocks. We'll be adding things to the New Release Die Cast page all afternoon. We've posted a couple new 1/43's so far, to go along with the wide selection of 1/43's to arrive the past week or so.
The rest of the day we'll post 1/18 arrivals, including the hot new Bullitt Mustang from Auto Art and Carousel's Eddie Sachs Dean Van Lines Special from 1961.
8/28/02 UPDATE: Some good news from CMC this morning. Our first shipment of 1/18 scale Mercedes W196's should arrive in a few days. Both Fangio and Moss versions are expected. Supply is limited, so if you haven't reserved yours yet, please do so asap. These W196's should fit nicely on your CMC Mercedes Benz Transporter (in stock, $199.00).

8/24/02 UPDATE: In less than 2 weeks, representatives from the top die cast makers, along with several hundred other 'hobby' manufacturers, will gather near O'Hare Airport for the annual International Model and Hobby Expo. We'll then find out what great new stuff will be available in time for Christmas (hopefully) and what exciting new projects are in the works for 2003 and beyond. We will file our fully illustrated annual show report here on www.motorsportcollector.com soon afterwards.
As those of you who subscribe to Racer Magazine probably know already, one new project has gone public in advance of the Expo. Carousel 1 has been working on a 1/18 scale model of Jim Clark's 1965 Indianapolis 500 winning Lotus 38 - Ford for a while now, and a 2003 release (they say Summer, I'm praying for December) has been announced. With their 1967 (and 1977) A.J. Foyt Indy winning Coyotes and Dan Gurney's Belgian GP winning Eagle now 'officially' pushed back to 2003 release dates (we've been telling you that all summer), 2003 is going to be a busy year for Frank Dalton and his elves at Carousel 1.
We wish them luck, and hope they have a smooth winter. They're working on some of our favorite race cars of all time!
Although we don't have any firm price info on the Clark Lotus 38 as yet, we have opened up a pre order list. Please give us the credit card in your wallet that has the farthest out expiration date and be patient.

rrr8/22/02 UPDATE: Here are photos (courtesy Minichamps NA) of the two new 1/43 scale Minichamps Classic F1 cars that are due to arrive here in a few days. At left is the second McLaren M23 release, this one the 1976 World Championship winning 'Marlboro' car driven by James Hunt (no tobacco logos appear). The model features a removable rear cowling and detailed engine. On the right is the very impressive Williams FW07 driven by Alan Jones in 1979 (and to his World Championship in 1980!). On this piece, the entire bodywork lifts off, revealing fully detailed engine, gearbox, monocoque and sidepods.

8/19/02 UPDATE: We've just unpacked from our third and final weekend roadshow at Road America. Our final 2002 roadshow will be at the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis next month. We'll be in our usual spot on 16th Street. More information in a couple of weeks.
While we were away the second Lola T-70 Coupe from GMP, the James Garner AIR machine, arrived. We'll have photos for you tomorrow. Also, two new 1/43 Minichamps Classic F1 cars are on the way: James Hunt's McLaren M23 and Alan Jones's Williams FW07. Photos soon. The detail will knock you out!
