8/31/01 UPDATE: Our Summer Clearance Sale will end Labor Day. There are still some great bargains out there. Check them out HERE and HERE.
We'll be on the road again next week for the Zippo US Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen September 7-9. Hope to see you there!
We'll be open our normal 10 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday, but will be closed on Monday for Labor Day. Have a great Holiday!

8/29/01 AFTERNOON UPDATE: GMP's 1/18 scale Al Unser Johnny Lightning Special Dirt Champ Car has arrived. Lots more photos HERE. Grab one of these beauties before they disappear!

8/29/01 UPDATE: It's been quite a year for fans of the great McLaren racing cars of the 1960's and 1970's and Carousel 1 will kick it up a notch in October when they release the first in their series of McLaren Indy Cars, the Johnny Rutherford 1974 Indianapolis 500 winning works McLaren M16C/D - Offenhauser ($119.95).
Other fall releases
planned by Carousel 1 include the 1962 Jim Rathman Simoniz Vista
Special Watson Roadster ($109.95), complete with a unique
Smokey Yunick designed, Bruce Crower built wing that was tested
in practice but discarded before qualifying. Downforce created
by the wing allowed Rathman to achieve cornering speeds never
before seen at The Brickyard, but unfortunately the drag effect
down the straights rendered the car uncompetitive. By 1963, USAC
banned the device and wings were not seen at the Speedway for
another decade.
Also on the horizon at Carousel 1 is the Tony DeLorenzo / Owens Corning Fiberglass A Production Corvette as raced at Meadowdale in 1959 ($129.95 - October Release) and the third release in the AAR Eagle series, Pancho Carter's Cobre Firestone Eagle as raced at Indy in 1974 ($119.95 - November Release).
TMC is accepting advance reservations on all three pieces. Call us at 800.722.8630 (630.515.1440 outside the US) or use our Secure Order Form.
Unfortunately, Carousel 1 has delayed the release of the 1953 Indy Winning Bill Vukovich Kurtis Roadster and the Pat Flaherty Watson Roadster until 2002.

8/28/01 UPDATE: GMP is planning a very exciting Autumn for collectors. The latest in their 1/18 Vintage Midget Series, the Duke Nalon Bowes Seal Fast Special, (seen above) is due to arrive at TMC in early September ($79.95). We have a production sample on display here in Downers Grove. Click the above photos for larger views.
The 1/18 scale Al Unser Johnny Lightning Special Dirt Championship Car (at left) should arrive as soon as next week ($84.95). Also due in September will be the first of GMP's new 1/43 scale Boxed Sets, a special three car Collection of A.J. Foyt Bowes Seal Fast Specials (Dirt Champ, Midget and Vintage Sprint cars) priced at $69.95.
Road Racing fans will see some great new stuff from GMP in October, with the introduction of the 1/18 Dan Gurney McLaren M8D Can Am car ($99.95), a 1/18 Scott Sharp Rain-X Camaro ($84.95), a pair of very limited production 1/18 scale Lola T-70's and a special Penske Racing 1/43 Boxed Set of 3 Lola T-70's (two roadsters and a coupe), also priced at $69.95. More information will be posted here as the new models arrive.
Production of the 'high wing' McLaren M8B has been delayed until 2002, while some issues with the rear wing are dealt with. We'll keep your orders on file, and keep you advised of the latest developments.
Two
versions of the George Bignotti prepared Lola T-70 Can Am car,
powered by the Ford DOHC Indy engine, are scheduled for release
in October. The previously announced Parnelli Jones version, raced
in 1967 (seen at right), will be released in an individually numbered
Limited Edition of 1,500.
A second version, as driven by Mario Andretti in the Road America and Bridgehamption Can Am races in 1968 will be built in a 'subscription' Limited Edition. The exact size of the production run has not been set, but will in all probability will be under 1,000. Get your reservations in early, folks!
Both new Lolas are priced at $89.95 each.
GMP will unveil a pre-production prototype of their 1/12 scale 1966 LeMans winning Ford GT40 Mk II at the Hobby Show here in Chicago the weekend after Labor Day.
I'm told they have outdone themselves.
I'll be out at Watkins Glen (hopefully with a prototype of the Dan Gurney McLaren M8D) for the US Vintage Grand Prix instead of at the show, but our staff will snap off a few thousand digital photos of the new stuff, which we will post when I return.
We'll tell you about some new releases from Carousel 1 tomorrow.

8/27/01 UPDATE: CMC has released a Limited Edition (1500 pieces) of the Mercedes-Benz W165 driven by Hermann Lang to his third straight victory at the Grand Prix of Tripoli in 1939. The model has been hand assembled from 316 pieces and is in EXTREMELY short supply in the US. We have just a few pieces in stock at $149.95.
More photos on the New
Release Die Cast page.
8/25/01 UPDATE: Sad news from England this morning. Ken Tyrrell has lost his long battle with pancreatic cancer. He had just finished treatment at The Mayo Clinic when I met him at Michael Turner's London Exhibition in February of last year. I felt priviliged to shake his hand.
Ken Tyrrell was a real giant from the bygone era of 'independent' Formula One teams.
I've added a few more items to our Summer Sale, including some 1/43 Formula One sets and a very unique 1/18 Alfa sedan. Details HERE.
8/24/01 UPDATE: The arrival of new 'stuff' has been a bit thin of late, so to spice things up a bit, we'll be posting some terrific bargains throughout the weekend. We'll start off with a sale on Maisto's beautiful 1/18 scale DTM Mercedes - regular $32.95 each, at 2 for $50.00 a savings of $8 a car! Details HERE.
8/22/01 UPDATE: Overnight, we secured 5 additional copies of Alan Fearnley's new Michael Schumacher signed print 'Just Another Day at the Office'. These will DEFINATELY be our final offering, since the publisher is likely to be completely sold out by the end of business in Europe today.
I'll still honor the $895.00 issue price, but would strongly advise you get your order in soon. This one is HOT!
This afternoon, we recieved confirmation that a fresh shipment of 1/18 CMC D - Type Auto Unions should arrive by next week. This may be our last shipment of this Limited Edition piece. Previous shipments have only lasted a few days. Still $139.95. A Limited Edition 1/18 CMC Mercedes W165 1939 Tripoli Winner is also inbound. We only have a few pieces available at $149.95. More info when the shipment lands.
8/21/01 UPDATE: Our allotment of the new Michael Schumacher signed Alan Fearnley Limited Edition Print 'Just Another Day at the Office' is sold out. We will take names for a waiting list, in case we are able to acquire additional copies.
8/20/01 UPDATE: Back from a very soggy Road America. Tomorrow (when we finish drying out), we'll tell you about a new series of pencil prints that just arrived from Michael Turner.

8/15/01 UPDATE: New arrivals from Minichamps this morning. Photos on the Die Cast New Arrival Page. Still waiting on the 1/43 BAR Test Cars, but we now have a few more of the 1/18's available for $64.95.
Word reaches us this morning that less than 40 of 500 copies remain unsold from the new Michael Schumacher signed 'Just Another Day at the Office' limited edition print by Alan Fearnley. We are still taking reservations at $895.00 plus shipping, but this print should sell out before the scheduled mid-September release date. With Schumacher sure to clinch his fourth World Championship and tie (or beat) Alain Prost's career victory mark by that time, we advise that you reserve one as soon as possible to avoid disappointment - or a price increase.
The stunning 1/18 scale Minichamps Porsche 904 GTS pictured above arrived this afternoon. $69.95 plus shipping. More photos HERE.

8/14/01 UPDATE: Shown above is the original remarque sketch individually drawn by Michael Turner on the first 10 copies of 'Return to America'. It shows a victorious Michael Schumacher crossing the famous 'yard of brick' at the Inaugural U.S. Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Nine of the ten remarqued copies are spoken for, but we still have one copy available for $425.00 plus shipping. Call Paul at 800.722.8630 if you have an interest.

In case you missed them the first time, we've acquired a few additional pieces of the 1/43 scale Kimi Raikkonen 2001 Sauber Showcar. Only 1400 were produced, and if Kimi fulfills the promise he's shown so far this season, it could be a very valuable piece indeed in years to come. We're still at $34.95 plus shipping.
8/13/01 UPDATE: Back from Mid Ohio. We'll be leaving for Road America on Thursday, so if you have something special you'd like 'delivered' up there, please let me know by Wednesday at noon CDT.
Evidently, the 'Code Red' virus attacked our Web Host's email server last week. If you've sent an email or an order that we've not responded to over the past week or so, please call 800.722.8630 or 630.515.1440 to confirm receipt.
The 'Return to America' remarques are here. On Tuesday, we'll ship reserved copies (or notify local customers) and post a photo of the one remaining copy.

8/07/01 UPDATE: Good news from across the pond if you've been anxiously awaiting a remarqued copy of our 2000 USGP print, 'Return to America'. Michael Turner has finished our customary 10 remarques and will ship them to us this week. We still have one remarqued copy available for $425.00 plus shipping. The original goache on board painting is also available. Contact Paul for further information.
8/06/01 UPDATE: We will have our usual display at the CART event at Mid Ohio this weekend. Our tent will be in the center of the infield, just across the road from 'Manufacturer's Row'. If you want us to deliver your order directly to the track, please let us know by Tuesday afternoon and we'll save you a few bucks in shipping charges.
We'll also be at the Road America CART race the weekend of August 17-19.
Our bootleg shipment of 1/43 BAR Test Cars should arrive within the week, asuming an AWACS plane doesn't spot our 'mules' and shoot us down. We will start processing your orders today. I still have a few cars available ($34.95) if you wish to complete your illegal Jacques Villeneuve BAR Collection.

8/04/01 UPDATE: New from GMP: The Kasey Kahne Speed Racer Sprint Car in 1/18 scale. Only 2,004 produced. We've got them in stock for $74.95. More photos HERE on our New Release Die Cast Page.
We've aquired a few additional Minichamps 1/18 Scale Juan Pablo Montoya 2001 BMW Williams Presentation Cars ($64.95). They are expected to arrive next week. The first batch went FAST, so get your name on one asap!
fff

This model is truly magnificent. Modeled in true 1/43rd scale it comes in a leather like box with felt for a base. The car is Peter Revson's Lola T-70 from Laguna Seca in 1967. The level of detail is beyond what is expected in 1/34rd scale diecast, but the price reflects the detail level. Order yours today for only $100.00!
