6/19/01 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Sorry, I promised to tell you more about this when we got back from Indy, but it slipped my mind:
GMP/Peachstate has announced a price increase in their forthcoming series of 1/12 scale Ford GT's - but don't panic.
As you probably know, the first car in the series will be the 1966 LeMans winning Ford Mk II of Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, scheduled for production and release this fall. The price of the Mk II has been increased from $399.99 to $444.99, but GMP is putting the entire increase (and then some) into the development and construction of what is sure to be a masterpiece. A total of 53 molds are being designed to form the 700+ parts (more than DOUBLE what was originally announced) needed to create the most detailed 'production' 1/12 scale model ever produced. Only 1,500 of these models will be made.
We are now taking reservations for this, and the other 2 Ford GT's announced by GMP so far. You can check out photos of the early pattern development here.
I personally think it's well worth the extra
45 bucks. Those of you who already own a 1/12 scale GMP Champ
Dirt car will probably agree. My name's already on one. Start
dropping hints for Christmas, boys.
6/19/01 UPDATE: We're trying to 'fine tune' the format here on www.motorsportcollector.com. To start with, I've split the features of the Recent Additions page into three separate pages. This page will continue to be the 'diary' of website updates, news and rumor. We've added two new pages; FEATURED ITEMS & COMING ATTRACTIONS to split the large volume of graphics we've used on this page in the past. Due to circumstances beyond our control (and record sales), I've been unable to do a complete website overhaul this spring, but we hope this will help.
Your comments or suggestions are appreciated.
6/18/01 UPDATE: Hope everyone had a great Father's Day weekend. It's been a nice, quiet day here so we're catching up with the mound of paperwork that has taken over my desk. The only news is from Auto Art. Our next shipment will include the two blue 'Original-Teile' versions of their excellent 1/18 scale Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, the 89834 car number 11 and the 89835 car number 12. We'll fill all pre-Orders at $54.95, the price goes to $59.95 on July 1.
And, Auto Art's new 1/18 Toyota GT-One has been delayed until July.

6/14/01 UPDATE: I've posted the pricing for the collection of sold out Alan Fearnley Limited Edition Prints posted on the site earlier this week.
Two 1/18 scale 2001 IRL Dallaras from Action arrived today. They're a nice improvemnent from last year's versions. At least they have the correct rear wings. And, they're a few bucks cheaper ($74.95). This year Action has reduced the edition size of their open wheelers; the Eddie Cheever Dallara-Infiniti (left) is available in an edition of 990 while only 666 of the Buddy Lazier Dallara-Olds (right) have been produced. Our first shipment of Mark Donohue Sunoco Porsche 917/30's has sold out. We have more models on the way, but we strongly urge that you reserve one NOW to avoid disappointment. This is a hot one, people.
The next Kurtis Roadster from Carousel 1, the Tony Bettenhausen Chapman Special that finished second in the 1955 Indianapolis 500, is due to arrive next week. It's $109.95, a few cars from our initial shipment are still available.

'Pick-ups' can begin immediately between 10am-5pm Monday thru Saturday. We have more on the way, so if you haven't ordered yet we'll still be able to get one for you.

6/5/01 UPDATE: I've uploaded a photo set of the soon to arrive Bobby Unser Bardahl Special 1/12 scale Dirt Championship Car from GMP. Only 1,100 of these beauties have been produced, and although they're not expected until late June, few remain unsold.

Here's something you won't read about for a while: We met up with our friend Nigel Roebuck, the Formula One correspondent from Autosport, at the Milwaukee CART race yesterday. He suggested that one of the 'carrots' offered by Ron Dennis to Adrian Newey was the possibility of an America's Cup yacht project if the brilliant (yet indecisive) designer agreed to a contract extention with McLaren.
I don't think Bobby Rahal (or FoMoCo's attorneys) will be as impressed as Newey.
