5/30/07 UPDATE: Back
from Indy! Lots to tell you about. Above: Indy Legend Lloyd Ruby
made an appearance at the National Auto Racing Memorabilia Show
and signed some of Carousel 1's new Bardahl Eagle - his 1966 Indy
ride - for TMC. Pre-orders were strong for this beautiful racer
and only a few autographed examples remain. 6/4-AUTOGRAPHED RUBY EAGLES SOLD OUT!
Bill Vukovich, Jr also signed a few things for us. Click HERE for information.
Looking for that perfect Father's Day gift? Here's something that anyone interested in racing history would love to have in his library. Two of Raymond Briggs's beautifully illustrated children's books from 1968 have been reprinted and released in a slipcased set . They tell the story of famous victories by two legendary pre-war racing drivers:
"Jimmy Murphy and the White Duesenberg" portrays American Jimmy Murphy's fantastic drive to victory in the 1921 French Grand Prix - the first Grand Prix victory by an American car and driver in international racing history.
"Nuvolari and the Alfa Romeo" tells the story of Tazio Nuvolari's brilliant victory over Mercedes and Auto Union in his aging Alfa Romeo P3 in the 1935 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.
Each book has been faithfully reproduced on high quality acid free paper with brightly colored dust jackets. The set ships in a handsome slipcase. All this for just $39.95 plus shipping. Additional information and some of Briggs's illustrations can be found HERE.
We saw these at Indy and called the publisher as soon as we got home. Our first shipment is expected early next week.

5/14/07 UPDATE: Carousel 1's latest release is the All American Racers Bardahl Eagle driven by Lloyd Ruby in the 1966 Indianapolis 500. Ruby started 5th, survived the first lap carnage and moved into 2nd place behind Jim Clark on lap 35. After one of Clark's two spins, Ruby assumed the lead and built up an impressive 50 second lead. Ruby's hard luck at the Speedway struck on lap 147 as he was black flagged with a smoking engine. He ultimately finishing 11th, completing 170 laps. Carousel 1 has produced the Bardahl Eagle in a Limited Edition of just 1,200 pieces priced at $159.95 plus shipping. Our first batch is expected to arrive around mid-week but we can offer something special to those of you who don't mind waiting another week or two.
As usual, we will have a display at the National Auto Racing Memorabilia
Show in Indianapolis on May 24-25-26. Lloyd Ruby is scheduled
to appear at the show on Friday, May 25 from 5:30 to 7:00pm to
meet fans and sign autographs. For a small additional charge ($15.00)
we can arrange to have the base of your Bardahl Eagle autographed
by the man himself but you
must confirm your order by 5pm (CDT) next Saturday, May 19. if you wish to take advantage of this opportunity.
Give us a call at 800.722.8630 or 630.515.1440 during
business hours or fill out the Secure Order Form.
(Signed cars may or may not be available
at that price after the event.)
