5/25/05 UPDATE: New stuff from Auto Art, as we pack for
Indy. We're impressed with the first of several 1/18 scale Porsche
911 GT3 R's that we will see in the next couple of weeks but the
silver (grey) Bugatti Veyron just blows us away. Check out the
photo sets for all the new Auto Art in the
usual place.
See you at Indy!
5/24/05 UPDATE: In addition to several new Minichamps
models that arrived today, including the Andretti/Andretti/Alliot
Porsche 956L seen below ($44.95), we received a small restock
of the very popular 1/12 scale Ducati 900, riden by Mike 'the
Bike' Hailwood to victory in the 1978 Isle of Man TT ($89.95).
They went fast last time!
See the New Die Cast
page for additional photos.
If you're going to Indy this weekend, we will be taking
part in the 27th Annual National Auto Racing Memorabilia Show
this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Show will be at the Indiana
State Fairgrounds this year, after being held downtown since the
beginning. If you know someone who is going, pass the word.
5/17/05 UPDATE: Check out the great new arrivals from
Minichamps, highlighted by the famous 'Moby Dick' Porschd 935/78.
Full photo sets are posted on the New
Die Cast page.

5/13/05 UPDATE: Team Rahal's Danica Patrick has been
at or near the top of the speed charts during the entire first
week of practice for the 2005 Indianapolis 500. Those of you who
are long-time TMC customers may remember that we spotted Danica
at Brands Hatch nearly five years ago when she finished second
to Anthony Davidson in the 2000 Formula Ford Festival. Her second
place finish matched Danny Sullivan's record as the highest place
American finish at this prestigious event.

what we wrote about Danica then.

5/12/05 UPDATE:
Two great new biographies have just arrived, profiling
two individuals who made their mark on the sport nearly a half
century apart:
'Driven Man' is the story of one
of the most powerful individuals in international racing today.
Dave Richards is the man behind Prodrive, who's cars have won
6 World Rally Championships, five British Touring Car Championships
and a GTS Class win at LeMans for Ferrari a couple of years ago.
Prodrive and Richards were brought in to change BAR's fortunes
in Formula One in late 2002 and this year will bring Aston Martin
back to LeMans, starting strong with a first in class in this
year's 12 Hours of Sebring. Alan Henry profiles the man some call
the Roger Penske of Great Britain. $24.95
I know we don't 'do NASCAR' here, but the origins of stock
car racing and the larger than life characters that brought the
sport to prominence in the 50s and 60s are an important part of
US racing history. Curtis Turner was one of those legends. We've
read a few random paragraphs from 'Full
Throttle: the Life and Fast Times of Curtis Turner' by
Robert Edelstein and it looks like a fascinating read. Sort of
like a 'Stand on it' that names names. A must for 60s race
fans. $24.95
5/6/05 UPDATE:
We were pleasantly surprised by the overal quality and
the photo selection of the latest release in the Ludvigsen Library
Series entitled 'Can Am Racing Cars: Secrets
of the Sensational Sixties Sports - Racers'. A better quality
paper than we've seen in the past from Iconografx, the photos
(all black and white) in this 125 page softcover book are crisp
and clear and best of all, interesting. If you're like me and
can't get enough of the classic Can Am era, you'll enjoy this
book. $29.95 plus shipping.
We've added the 1975 Ickx/Bell Mirage to our selection of 1/43
scale LeMans winners from IXO. Check out the New
Die Cast page.
5/2/05 UPDATE: Today's new arrivals from Minichamps
include the 2004 LeMans winning Audi R8, a Martine Porsche 911
Carrera, Peter Dumbreck's sharp looking Valvoline Lola from the
2004 DTM, the latest Takuma Sato Collection release and two versions
(in case 1 wasn't enough) of Timo Glock's 2004 Jordan Ford. All
are featured on the New Die Cast
page.
