3/27/03 UPDATE: We'll be receiving the 1/18 scale Gilles Villeneuve McLaren M23 from Minichamps next week. The Canadian legend made his Formula One debut in this car at the 1977 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, starting 9th (next to his hero Ronnie Peterson) and finishing 11th after a faulty gauge prompted several unneccessary pit stops. Even so, Gilles turned the 5th fastest lap of the race and impressed Mauro Forghieri and others so much that Ferrari immediately bought out Villeneuve's contract with McLaren and had him in a 312 T2 by the Canadian Grand Prix a few weeks later. An important model for you Formula One historians (and Gilles fans!). $109.95 plus shipping.
One little fact about that 1977 British GP. There were a total of 41 cars entered for that showcase race. Hard to believe, isn't it?
Also from Minichamps, the 2002 Petit LeMans Winning Audi R8 ($44.95) and the 2002 USGP Saubers of Heidfeld and Frentzen ($29.95 each).
Porsche enthusiasts: A batch of Christophorus back issues has been added to our Hard to Find Magazine page.

3/12/03 AFTERNOON UPDATE: This is the kind of day we love around here. Lots of new stuff to tell you about and while it's not exactly the same as being a Playboy photographer, we get to shoot some some real beautiful stuff to post here on the website. More than 100 new photos have been uploaded today!
This afternoon we recieved a restock of the very
popular 1/18 scale Minichamps
James Hunt McLaren Ford M23 in which he
captured the 1976 Formula One World Driving Championship. We also
received the car of Hunt's teammate, Jochen Mass. Both are available
for $109.95. Want both? Call for our special price (thru
Saturday, March 15).
The center photo shows the evolution of the durable M23 from Emerson Fittipaldi's 1974 World Championship winning car to Hunt's car two seasons later (a few Fittipaldi cars are still available at the same price). One of the greatest race car designs in F1 history, the McLaren M23 in the hands of Works drivers Hunt, Fittipaldi, Mass, Revson and Hulme, won 20 Formula One races from the time the car was introduced in 1973 until it was reluctantly replaced by the M26 in 1977. Several more victories were scored by Tony Trimmer in non-championship events thru 1978! A remarkable record indeed.
Check out the full photo sets of the Hunt and Mass 1976 M23's HERE.

3/10/03 UPDATE: Two exciting new models arrived from Exoto today. On the left, the #65 Chaparral 2 driven by Jim Hall, Hap Sharp and Bruce Jennings to a second place finish in the 1965 Road America 500 at Elkhart Lake. The other Chaparral 2, number 66, won the race with Hall and Sharp sharing the driving with Ron Hissom for the honors. Exoto will release that version sometime in the future. Both carry the distinctive RA Tech Sticker on the right front fenders (as seen above). With their 2 cars and 4 drivers finishing 1-2 in this 500 mile race, this was perhaps the high water mark for Hall, Sharp and their Chaparrals in their domination of the United States Road Racing Championship. Both RA cars will make a fine set for racing historians or RA fans ($169.95 each). We'll accept advance orders for the #66 now.
On the right is the Carroll Shelby Driving School version of the AC Cobra with a 260 Ford engine under the hood. Also $169.95 (future Cobras will be priced $20 higher!). A stunningly beautiful piece. Check out full photo sets of both HERE.
We expect delivery of the 1/18 Minichamps McLaren M23 of Jochen Mass in the next day or two. Still a few Hunt McLarens unspoken for, but hurry!

3/7/03 UPDATE: This week's new model announcement from Minichamps came a bit earlier in the day. Delivery date is set for the '3rd Quarter 2003'. Reserve now at $44.95 each. Limit 2 per customer, please.
PLEASE NOTE: The Limited Edition version of The Racer's Group Porsche will be issued with a 'clean' finish. The car in the 2 car Daytona Porsche Set announced 2 weeks ago will be carry a 'weathered' or 'raced' finish.

3/6/03 AFTERNOON UPDATE: The driver and car may be a bit obscure compared to previous releases, but the Mike Nazaruk McNamara Special Kurtis with it's bright, metal flake finish is perhaps the most beautiful vintage Roadster offering yet from Carousel 1! In stock now for $109.95.
Check out the full photo set HERE.

3/6/03 UPDATE: Perhaps our final restock of Minichamps' 1/18 scale
Kenwood Porsche 956 has just arrived. Just $79.95 plus

3/5/03 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Three new 1/18 scale 1969 Trans Am Mustangs have just been announced for release in the next few months. They are the Bud Moore Mustangs of Parnelli Jones (#15) and George Follmer (#16) and the Shelby Team Mustang #2 driven by Dan Gurney at Laguna Seca and Kent, Washington. The project is a joint venture by GMP, Replicarz and Supercar Collectibles. The models will be produced by Welly in limited editions of just 2,500 pieces and priced at $69.95 each. Reserve now.

3/5/03 UPDATE: An 'added starter' in the GMP Trans Am Camaro lineup is this 'Brushed Aluminum' version of the 1967 Penske Camaro. Produced in a Limited Edition of just 1,500, we expect delivery in a few weeks. Reserve now at $109.95. Our supply will be limited.
Be advised: As of right now, the only other '67 Camaro on GMP's schedule is the #16 George Follmer car (June) and we expect a price increase to $119.95 on future releases in the series.
We expect delivery of two new releases from Carousel One in the next few days; the 1/18 Brumos Porsche 935 ($139.95) and the Mike Nazaruk / McNamara Special Kurtis Roadster ($109.95).
Our first shipment of the 1/18 scale Minichamps James Hunt McLaren M23 was sold out before it got here! We expect a restock early next week. This one is going fast. Reserve now ($109.95).

3/4/03 UPDATE: There are lots of Cobra books on the market today. Some are pretty expensive. Well, if you've got a spare $29.95 (plus shipping) laying around, I'd like to recommend this new arrival; 'AC Cobra: The Truth Behind the Anglo American Legend' by Rinsey Mills. In 159 pages, Mills takes you from the first AC Ace chassis through the 1965 World Manufacturers Championship winning Cobra Daytona Coupes in an extremely well illustrated tour that includes both competition and street machines. He tops it off with a complete AC Factory Cobra Chassis history, listing all chassis built by the British factory. Recommended.
Also on the book front: Last week, Bernie Ecclestone announced an authorized biography to be penned by the wife of F1 Medical head Prof. Sid Watkins. Well, an unauthorized Bernie bio has just surfaced in Europe, for how long we don't know. Lawyers have been going after potential publishers since the project began. We'll be bringing in a shipment in a few days. Reserve your copy now for $35.95 plus shipping. Just ask for the 'Bernie Book'.
