Updated 3/31/00: The Jim Hurtubise Watson Roadster from Carousel 1
has just arrived. We've just posted a series of photos HERE.
You can review the entire Carousel 1 range of historic Indy Roadsters
HERE.
Updated 3/30/00: The reviews in the European racing magazines for "Time and Two Doors"
by Janus Wimpffen have been nothing less than spectacular this
past winter. Wimpffen's 2 volume, 2,300 page history of World
Championship Sports Car racing is now available at TMC, one of
the only US outlets for this impressive achievement. Read all
about it HERE.
Updated 3/28/00: Back to work after a few days R&R. As we mentioned yesterday, the 1/18 scale Auto Art C-Type Jaguars have arrived and are as spectacular as we had hoped for. They sport the best engine detail we've seen from Auto Art to date and they have been quite successful in capturing the smooth, clean lines of this LeMans winning classic.
Now that we've worked out the bugs on some new software, we're uploaded a few photos of the C-Type and some other new pieces that have arrived in the past few days:
The third Lola T-70 coupe from Fly is Sid Taylor's Mk3.B driven by Brian Redman to victory at Thruxton in 1969. Photos here. Incidentally, Fly's slot cars are produced in 'one shot' production runs and the Penske Racing Lola coupe has become the fastest sellout in the company's history. We still have a couple of the Donohue-Parsons cars left, but when they're gone, they're gone.
Two new 1998 LeMans Vipers from Auto Art have also arrvived. You can view photos here.
We're expecting the arrival of more new software tomorrow, so if our site goes 'boom' in the next couple of days, it's just me. Don't worry, I'll figure things out eventually.
Updated 3/27/00: The 1/18 scale Auto Art C-Type Jaguars are in. Pre-orders ship this week. A few remain in stock for $49.95 plus shipping.
Updated 3/22/00: We're down to our final few Exoto Corvette Grand Sport Prototypes, which is now listed as 'retired'. Price is now $199.95, which is $150.00 less than the price listed on Exoto's website. Time is running out on this one!
Speaking of time running out, it's 'last call' on the first two releases in GMP's 1/18 scale Dirt Champ Car series. We're down to our last case each of the Rodger Ward Kaiser Alluminum Special and A.J. Foyt Sheraton Thompson Special. Still $84.95 for now.
Our 1/12 Scale A.J. Foyt Dirt Champ cars
(due in September) are completely sold out.
Updated 3/16/00: We made a major
change to our page of Autographed Visors
this morning. Check it out.
As we announced on Tuesday, GMP's first 1/18 scale TransAm / IMSA diecast, the Scott Pruett Motorcraft Mustang that won the IMSA GTO Championship in 1986, is now in stock at The Motorsport Collector ($74.95). The quality of this new series is consistant with GMP's reputation for producing some of the best values in die cast today. Only 2,500 pieces have been produced, so order soon to avoid disappointment. The next release in the Trans Am series will be the Dorsey Schroeder Whistler Mustang from 1990. Advance orders now accepted.
For those of you who are collecting GMP's 1/18 Dirt Champ Cars. the next two releases in that series are;
These pieces are also being offered at $84.95 each. Advance orders now accepted.
Won't anyone vote for poor David Coulthard? Take a minute to voice your opinion in our 'Who will be World Champion in 2000?' poll above. If response is satisfactory, we'll put up polls on a regular basis. If you have a suggestion for a future poll, let us know. Email HERE.
A reminder for those of you in the Chicago area. Instead of having major displays at the big swap meets in town this weekend, we will be opening the Gallery at 7am and offering coffee and donuts to you early risers or, since Friday is St Patrick's Day, those of you still partying. There will be some special offers from 7am to 9am (I'll figure out what they're going to be tomorrow) so stumble in early and take a look.
We still have 0 GMP 1/12 scale A.J.Foyt Bowes
Seal Fast Special remaining for pre-order. This model will be
released in September with an issue price of $299.95 and is already
sold out. First call gets it!

Updated 3/13/00: Stunning and breathtaking are the first words to come to mind after seeing Fly's new Penske Racing Sunoco Special Lola T-70 Mk3B as driven to victory by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons at Daytona in 1969. Amazing detail for a 1/32 scale slot car. In stock now at The Motorsport Collector for just $44.95. SOLD OUT!!!
Click here for additional photos. We couldn't zoom in close enough, but the word 'Mark' appears on the driver's helmet!
We're hearing that Fly will launch a series of 1/43 scale Lola T-70 roadsters later this year. More information as we get it.
Good news, bad news from GMP this morning. We've been able to secure a few additional A.J. Foyt Sheraton Thompson Specials and few more Rodger Ward Kaiser Specials from their 1/18 scale Dirt Champ Car series. GMP reports that the Foyt car is now completely sold out, and less than 20 of the Ward cars remain unsold.
As you can see by the above graphic, we're down to our last two 1/12 scale A.J. Foyt Dirt Champ Cars!!!
GMP also tell us that our Scott
Pruett Motorcraft Mustangs will arrive by Wednesday, but the
release of the Dan Gurney Bardahl Lola T-70 has now been delayed
until mid May. Only a few cars from our first batch of Pruett
Mustangs remain unsold.
Updated 3/10/00: Our first update this morning is an updated Hard To Find Die Cast page. We've aquired some EXTREMELY scarce Minichamps models, including the 1/43 scale JFK Lincoln Limo and 1/43 scale Mika Hakkinen McLaren MP4/13's from 1998 - in both 'standard' McLaren Collection and Team Edition (with full West logos) versions.
Cars from the 1999 Minichamps Formula One Collection continue to trickle in. New additions include the 1/18 scale Panis/Prost and Takagi/Arrows. 1/43 scale BAR cars are again being promised 'soon'. Maybe we'll see them before the cars start appearing in vintage races.
Our final update of the day is to the New Arrival page of Vitesse Group models. Vitesse, and their other brand names Onyx, Skid and 4 Wheels seem to be making a comeback in the US market. Availability is a bit better than the past couple of years and model quality and selection has been greatly improved, especially for models in the under $30 price range. Take a look at some recent arrivals, including LeMand BMW's, Toyotas and Porsches and keep in mind that all of the new pieces have been produced in Limited Editions, some as small as 2000 pieces.
Enjoy the Australian GP this weekend!!!

Updated 3/9/00: We made one major addition to our page of Autographed Visors this morning. Check it out.
Two new arrivals from Auto Art today: The 1/18 scale Chrysler Team Oreca Dodge Vipers as raced in the 1998 LeMans 24 Hour race including the GT2 class winning car #53 driven by David Donohue, Justin Bell and Luca Drudi (seen at right) are now in stock at TMC.
We also received the 1/18 UT Model of the #68 'Naked Lady' Porsche 911 GT2, also raced at LeMans in 1998. Shipped in a plain brown wrapper.

Updated 3/8/00: Several new additions to our Memorabilia Section today, including a selection of Autographed Visors, Crew Shirts and a 1983 Bobby Rahal IMSA Driver Suit.
We've added our complete 'Out of Print' Book List to the Motor Racing Book Section this afternoon.

Updated 3/7/00: Our first new arrivals of the week are two new Fly Slot Cars, the Team Oreca #91 Dodge Viper GTS-R as raced at Road Atlanta in last year's Petit Lemans and the first of the Lola T-70 coupes, the Jo Bonnier entry from Thruxton 1969. The Penske Racing Sunoco Lola T-70 coupe is due later in the week.
We added a few photos in our Fly
Slot Cars section of cars that are in stock now.Time permitting,
I'll add more later in the week.
Updated 3/5/00: We're expecting the arrival of two very cool new items
this week. They are the first release in GMP's 1/18 scale Trans
Am Series, the Scott Pruett Motorcraft
Mustang ($74.95) and a 1/32 scale Fly Slot Car of the 1969
Daytona winning Penske Racing Sunoco Lola T-70 Coupe, driven by
Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons ($44.95). Order now!
Updated 3/3/00: The Autocourse CART 1999/2000 Annuals ($34.95) have
finally arrived. Pre-orders have been shipped and those of you
in the Chicago area can come on in and pick your copy.
Updated 3/2/00: A gentle reminder regarding the next release in GMP's 1/12 scale Dirt Championship Car series:
Demand for the A.J. Foyt Bowles Seal Fast Special is unprecidented due to the quality of the first release in the series, the low quantity of cars to be produced (1,400) and the fact that it's an A.J. Foyt car. Though it's not scheduled for release until September, GMP has already classified the car as 'sold out'. Many dealers are pre-selling this piece for $350 and up, but we have 0 slots remaining on our pre-order list at the suggested $299.95 list price.
Since it took less than an hour to sell a 1/12 scale Johnny Lightning Special at $400 after listing it here yesterday morning, you may want to get your name on our Foyt list as soon as possible. Limit one per customer. You can see photos of a prototype Foyt car HERE.
Fly will produce a three car Steve McQueen set of 1/32 scale slot cars this spring. The first release will be the McQueen/Revson Porsche 908 that finished second at Sebring in 1970. The second will be the Porsche 908 Camera Car used to film McQueen's classic 'LeMans' and the third will be a 'Michael Delaney' Gulf Porsche 917. Each will be priced in the $69.95 range. The Sebring 908 is due late March, with the other two cars being released in April and May. Demand is expected to be very high. Pre-order all three now!
Regarding the Daytona winning Viper slot car from Fly we told you about yesterday, the car is 'officially' the #91 Viper as raced at the Petit LeMans last September, but could pass for this year's Rolex 24 Daytona winner. They'll be here in a few days. Order now at $44.95 each.
Updated 3/1/00: Amazingly, we've been told to expect delivery of the 1/32 scale Fly Slot Car of the 2000 Rolex 24 at Daytona winning Dodge Viper within the week. We think it may really be a 1999 Petit LeMans version, but we hope to clear it up with the importer later today. Also on the way is the first of Fly's Lola T-70 Coupes, the Jo Bonnier, Thruxton 1969 yellow #1 (C32). Both cars priced at $44.95 each.
We now have one (1) 1/12 scale GMP Johnny Lightning Special Dirt Championship Car available for $400. - SOLD
We've located some 1/18 scale GMP
A.J. Foyt Sheraton Thompson Special Dirt Championship Cars
and can make a couple pieces available at the issue price of $85.95.
GMP has already classified this car as sold out. When they're
gone, they're gone.
