2/24/05 UPDATE: Two great new 1/18 models to tell you about today:

Carousel 1's latest release is Dan Gurney's Lotus 38 from the 1965 Indianapolis 500. Dan was part of the 'all Lotus' front row with race winner Jim Clark and pole sitter A.J. Foyt but dropped out after just 42 laps. Still, this particular example of the classic Lotus 38 is one of the best and cleanest looking race cars of the day. Just 1200 produced ($139.95). Check the full photo set HERE.

GMP's long awaited 1969 Sunoco Camaro is here ($109.95). Only two versions are scheduled at this time. The first release, the #9 car, features the black vinyl roof used by Penske Racing in the first 4 races of the 1969 Trans Am season. This car was driven by 3 drivers in its short history. Mark Donohue drove it from 31st to second at Bridgehampton after his #6 blew an engine in the warmup. Ronnie Bucknum drove the #9 to victory at Mid Ohio (and a DNF at MIS). Ed Leslie drove it to a second place finish at Donnybrooke after Bucknum was injured in a road accident.

Legend has it that the the vinyl tops were installed because the Penske Camaro bodies were acid dipped (to reduce weight) so much that the roofs would dimple if someone so much as looked crosseyed at them. It was also a great psychological tool for Penske in that classic Ford vs. Chevrolet battle for the 1969 Trans Am Manufacturers Championship.

After the Donnybrooke round of the Championship, Penske was ordered to remove the vinyl top and the cars appeared in 'normal' trim from that point on.

The second release will be the #6 Sunoco Camaro (with the 'normal' blue metal roof) driven by Mark Donohue to the 1969 Trans Am Manufacturers Championship ($109.95). It is scheduled to arrive in about a month. GMP has cut production on the 1969 cars to about half of what previous Sunoco Camaros in the series have been. Only 1,250 of each are being produced. We think demand is going to be high, especially on the #6. If you want either of these cars, we strongly suggest you check out the photos HERE and get back to us with your order as soon as possible.

2/23/05 UPDATE: We've added some items to the Die Cast Preview page that should be of interest to road racing fans.

Coming this week: Carousel 1's 1/18 scale Dan Gurney Lotus 38 from the 1965 Indianapolis 500 ($139.95) and GMP's 1/18 scale Penske Racing 1969 Camaro with the famous vinyl roof ($109.95).

An addition to our DVD selection is 'Once Upon a Wheel', a 1971 TV special starring Paul Newman that examined the world of auto racing. It's a bit corny but features some great footage of Can Am, Formula One, Indy Cars, Stock Cars and Drag Racing. ($19.95). Newman narrates from the long lost Ontario Motor Speedway in California.

2/16/05 UPDATE: A total of 18 new models from Minichamps have been posted to the New Die Cast page the past couple of days. Check them out. There's something for everyone. Along with that, we've posted the 2005 Minichamps New Product Announcements, more than 300 new items scheduled for production over the next year or two. We caution you (as usual) not to rely on the announced release dates but we urge you to scan the list and pre-order your 'must have' items. Several 'hot' models from Minichamps and other manufacturers have sold out in a matter of days lately.

SOLD

An addition to our Hard To Find Die Cast page is this 1/18 scale Exoto Mercury (Ford) GT 40 Mk II as driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt at Daytona in 1967, as a prelude to their winning LeMans pairing. This model is listed as 'retired'. (SOLD). Click on the image for additional photos.

2.14.05 UPDATE: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

More than a dozen new arrivals from Minichamps today. We've posted photos of some great Porsche models on the New Die Cast page. Stop by tomorrow for more photos and information on more than 300 new Minichamps models for 2005 and beyond!

2/10/05 UPDATE: A small quantity of the extremely scarse 1/12 scale Tamiya Ferrari Enzos are due to arrive at TMC next week. Call Paul at 800.722.8630 for further informaton.

2/9/05 UPDATE: After he retired from the NFL as its All Time Greatest Running Back, Walter Payton turned to motor racing. He became a partner in Dale Coyne's CART Indy Car team and drove in various SCCA pro and amateur events. In September of 1993, Payton survived a horrendous crash while practicing for the Road America Trans Am at Elkhart Lake. The bodywork pictured above was one of the only parts of the car that did not burn to the ground. Details HERE.

Today, we launch our new Die Cast Preview page to give you a heads up on the models we expect to arrive in the next few months and beyond. Today's installment features the 2005 line up from Carousel 1. This year, C1 will release 3 1/18 scale Indy 500 winners and some other significant race cars.

The Official MotoGP Season Review 2004 Yearbooks is here, nicely priced at $34.95 plus shipping. Rallycourse and Motocourse will be available here in the early spring. Let us know if you need a copy.

2/4/05 UPDATE: If you've been checking our New Die Cast page, you'll have a pretty good idea of what we've been doing this week. Lots of new models from Auto Art, Minichamps and Kyosho. The coolest looking piece is the 1/18 scale Bugatti EB 18.3 Chiron that just arrived from Auto Art. It's part of their Millennium Collection and features a highly detailed interior and individually numbered chassis. $99.95 plus shipping. We've updated the Auto Art Preview page with a few SRP and inventory status changes. Auto Art has announced a lot of great stuff. Hopefully, we'll start seeing more of it soon.

Be sure to take advantage of our free shipping offer on the Auto Art 2003 LeMans C5Rs!

Next week, we'll be uploading information on another Secondary Market art print and a piece of memorabilia that will be of interest to race fans who just happen to follow the Chicago Bears. We'll also launch our Die Cast Preview page, with information on what the major manufacturers have in the planning and production stages for us in 2005. Have a great weekend.

2/1/05 UPDATE: Pictured above is 'Tribute to Enzo Ferrari', another sold out limited edition print by Alan Fearnley. It was published after the 1-2 finish by Scuderia Ferrari in the 1988 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, just two weeks after the death of Enzo Ferrari. The Edition (850 prints) was signed by the artist and by Ferrari team drivers Gerhard Berger and the late Michele Alboreto. This example is nicely framed and priced at $795.00 plus shipping. SOLD. Click HERE for additional photos.

There has been quite a bit of action on our New Die Cast page the past few days with lots of new arrivals from Minichamps, Kyosho, GMP and others. The long lost 1/43 Red Lobster BMW M1 from Minichamps ($44.95) and a sweet little 1/43 Shelby GT350 fastback from Kyosho ($24.95) are among the current additions.

The 1/12 scale Compuware Corvette C5R in LeMans Blue from GMP is also in stock ($599.95). Watch for more additions later this afternoon.
