2/19/02 UPDATE: Some exciting new releases from GMP are expect to arrive in early March. First will be the long anticipated 1/18 scale 'High-Wing' McLaren M8B ($99.95) driven by Bruce McLaren to the 1969 CanAm Championship. Team McLaren and the M8B went undefeated in 1969, with Bruce and Denny (Hulme) winning all 11 races between them (Bruce 6, Denny 5). Sadly, Bruce was killed in a testing accident at Goodwood shortly before the opening round of the 1970 Championship.
GMP's 3 car boxed sets are an amazing value at just $69.95. The first 'road racing' set honoring the Sunoco Specials of Penske Racing is due to arrive here at TMC in March. It contains highly detailed 1/43 models of 2 Lola T-70 roadsters (the #16 Mark Donohue car that gave Penske Racing their first win at Kent, Washington in 1966 and the #7 Nassau Speedweeks 'Pepsi' car) and the Daytona winning Lola T-70 coupe driven by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons. Each model features flip up bodywork and a detailed engine compartment. The trio are delivered in a handsome wood display case.
Both new items are going fast. Reserve now!

2/18/02 UPDATE: I''ve just uploaded a complete photo set of the new 1/18 GMP 'Big Daddy' Don Garlits 'Swamp Rat 1' to the New Release Die Cast page. The model is the first in a series of Garlits dragsters from GMP ($109.95).The 'Swamp Rat 1' was 1957's fastest dragster (176.40 mph - E.T. 8.79 seconds).
Our Minichamps Inventory page has been updated. Almost 3,000 models in stock!
Our In Stock (in print) and Out of Print book lists have also been updated. These are raw lists and will be 'fine tuned' when we remodel the TMC website later this winter.
If you missed the first Donohue Lola in GMP's series of 1/18 T-70's, we have one listed on our Hard to Find Die Cast page.
A New Prints page has been added to the website.
Two new Limited Edition motorcycle prints arrived today and the list of signatories is impressive to say the least. At right - 'The Doctor' by Greg Tillett is a Limited Edition (300) signed by the artist and 2001 500cc World Champion Valentino Rossi ($255.00). Below - 'The Worlds Greatest Riders, Part 1' by Darrell Warner is a Limited Edition (500) signed by the artist and this amazing line up: Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts and Mick Doohan ($255.00).

2/15/02 UPDATE: Just in time for Sunday's race - Bob Zeller's excellent new history of the Daytona 500 has just the right mix of photos, memorabilia and stories. From the same publisher as the Mario Andretti and Bobby Rahal biographies (and Ken Breslauer's epic 'Sebring'), it's a great buy at just $39.95.
Enjoy the race Sunday.

2/14/02 UPDATE: If you collect MRRC slot cars (or Cobras, for that matter), the next release is the 1964 Targa Florio car driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant to an 8th place finish ($44.95). We expect them in a few days. A list of slot cars expected to arrive between now and early March has now been posted to the New Slot Car Release page. Check out the Martini Lancia boxed set, the Cadillac LMP and Montoya Williams F1 car!

2/13/02 UPDATE: Now in stock, 'The Mathews Collection' is a great book for those of us who love McLaren Can Am cars. Harry Mathews has assembled quite a collection and each car is lavishly illustrated and accompanied by technical specifications and its racing history. Mathews's Ferraris, Corvettes, Lotus's (Loti?) Hot Rods and motorcycles are also included.
A great bargain for just $24.95!
2/12/02 UPDATE: Later this winter, we will attempt a complete, 'ground up' rebuild of www.motorsportcollector.com. The 'new' website will have a completely updated book section, with a thorough list of current and out-of-print titles in our inventory. But, while we patiently await the delivery of our new iMac, we're sprucing up some of the existing pages and adding new ones to highlight some of the best TMC has to offer.
Yesterday, we added a New Books
page to list the new titles that have arrived this winter. The
New Books page will be a permanent
addition to www.motorsportcollector.com.
If you're a fan of the great Murray Walker, Christopher Hilton has put this tribute book together - filled with great stories and 'Murray-isms'. Give 'Murray Walker: The Last Word' ($24.95) a read!
This winter, we're making arrangements for delivery of some great titles that otherwise may not be available in the US. Stay tuned.

2/11/02 UPDATE: IN STOCK!!!! 'Filming At Speed: The Making of the Movie LeMans' (30 min. $19.95 plus shipping). Host Chad McQueen takes us for a very special behind the scenes look at the making of this historic film. He shares his memories of its production, many personal moments with his father and some private photographs from his family album. Racing icons and film executives come together once more, to share a few anecdotes and personal insights. A 'must have'.
Action's 1/24 scale Jeff Gordon 2002 DuPont Chevrolet Monte Carlo is now in stock ($59.95 plus shipping). Photos have been added to the NASCAR Die Cast page.

2/7/02 UPDATE: If you read the British magazines, you've seen the reviews on Richard Williams excellent new biography of Enzo Ferrari. The first printing was a complete sellout in the UK over Christmas and very few copies made it to the US (our only copy was purchased by a good customer - and a former driver for Scuderia Ferrari - before I could actually read it).
This morning we received confirmation that a fresh shipment of 'Enzo Ferrari' is on the way and should arrive here at TMC in about a week. Reserve your copy now at $34.95 plus shipping.

Pre-Order NOW !2/6/02 UPDATE: Better late than never! A deal has been struck and the Official 2001 FIA Formula One Review Video will be available in the US after all! A March release date has been set. This year's video will be a full 3 hours in length, something we haven't seen since 1989. The price has gone up a bit (to $39.95) but the added length of the program will more than make up for the increase.
We have no firm information as to whether or not a 2001 F1 DVD will be available. The 2000 DVD is in stock ($19.99).
More good news? Speed Channel (nee Speedvision) has begun advertising that they have acquired the rights to carry Formula 1 in 2002. Preliminary schedules we've seen show that Speed Channel will continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday coverage of each Grand Prix. Hopefully, all the dark speculation that Speed Channel would be 'all NASCAR all the time' will prove false. They're coverage of the 2002 World Rally Championship so far has been spectacular, with well produced (by the FIA) nightly broadcasts during each event.

'Sweet Victory' by Paul Huntington has now been signed by both Patrick Carpentier and Alex Tagliani and will be available here at TMC in mid-February. Commemorating Carpentier's victory in the 2001 Michigan 500, the print is approved by both Players and Forsythe Racing. Price is an extremely reasonable $100.00 plus shipping. Limited Edition of 600. Overall Print Size: 35.5" x 25.75". Image Size: 29.5" x 19". Reserve now!

2/5/02 UPDATE: The first faint stirrings of the new racing season are starting to be heard. The World Rally Championship has seen two winners so far in 2002. Last weekend, we saw the beginning of Speed Weeks at Daytona. This week, the NASCAR teams move in and will be the center of attention for the next couple of weeks. The first 2002 NASCAR die cast have been released, and since we now have a Winston Cup race just a few miles down the road in Joliet, we've decided to widen our selection for those of you who follow that series. Today we are launching a NASCAR DieCast page with a selection of 2002 race cars and some late 2001 arrivals.
Some bad news for Chicago area fans was released this afternoon. Chicago Motor Speedway has suspended operations for 2002, cancelling their CART and Craftsman Truck races.
We hope to have some good news for F1 fans on Wednesday. Stop back!

2/1/02 UPDATE: February's first update adds a few interesting items to our Hard to Find Die Cast page. We've also posted a few additions to our Fly Slot Car inventory on our New Release Slot Car page.
