A copy of the original litho edition occupied a place of honor above the double World Champion's trophy case in the Clark family home (see photo below). 2/19/10 UPDATE: If you grew up in the Chicago area, there's a good chance you saw your first auto racing at Raceway Park, a short paved oval located in Blue Island, on the city's South Side (I did!).
Raceway Park, the 'World's Busiest Track' officially opened its doors to Midget racing on September 24, 1938 and operated for more than 60 years. The first race was won by Harry McQuinn, who went on to compete at Indianapolis, ultimately becoming the Speedway's Chief Pit Steward.
In 1948, 'The World Famous Motordrome' added Stock Car races to its regular program. The track became a popular attraction in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, with race programs scheduled 3 or 4 nights a week.
After falling on hard times, Raceway closed in 2000 and was torn down the following year but has not been forgotten.
Kalwasinski and Beck have put together an excellent tribute to the glory days of short track racing in Chicago.

2/2/10 UPDATE: Our 'regular' shipment of Autocourse 2009/10 has arrived from the UK. As we mentioned to Email Update subscribers a couple weeks ago, there has been a price reduction from $59.99 to $54.95. Most advance orders will ship today (at the lower price) and those of you who are picking up your books here in Downers Grove will be getting a phone call or email shortly.

1/19/10 UPDATE: Several prominent manufacturers of high quality models aren't waiting for the big shows in February to announce their plans for 2010:
First, TrueScale Miniatures announced an attractive program of Tyrrell Grand Prix cars and other neat stuff. Last week, CMC sent out a 'Preview' of several new pieces on their agenda and GMP announced a second Ferrari 312PB for Spring 2010 delivery.

1/16/10 UPDATE: It's 'Annual' time. The main 'surface' shipments of Autocourse and Automobile Year will be here next week. A new winner at LeMans in 2009 has sparked interest in both the 2009 LeMans Annual and 2009 LeMans Review DVD. We'll have more Annuals in stock early next week. The DVDs are ready to ship.
