1/24/03 UPDATE: We'll be
updating various sections of the website over the next few days.
Some die cast news and rumor for you:
- Looks like Minichamps will produce 1/43 scale Jaguar F1 cars for 2003. We'll be posting the complete list of 2003 F1 Presentation Cars from Minichamps in the next day or so.
- We'll have the 1/18 Minichamps Jordan 191 driven by Andrea deCesaris in stock in a few days. The model will include a driver figure. Price will be $74.95 plus shipping.
- The 1/18 scale Brumos Porsche 935 from Carousel 1 is the first of at least 3 cars in that series. Future releases will include the Hawaiian Tropic car driven by Paul Newman and others and a Bobby Rahal driven Kremer K3.
- Action will re-enter the 1/18 IRL die cast market in 2003. Cars for Sarah Fisher, Al Unser, Jr, Scott Sharp, Tomas Scheckter and Eddie Cheever are planned. Cars for Michael Andretti, Tony Kannan and A.J. Foyt, IV are listed as tentative. $79.95 each, Preorders accepted.

1/23/03 UPDATE: We've been enjoying the various banzai runs included in our latest DVD offering 'Ghost Rider' ($26.95), the most amazing of which is the 'Uppsala Run', a casual 42.6 mile trek on the motorways north of Stockholm that our totally demented hero completes in a little under 15 minutes - an average speed of 170.1 MPH! The Ghost Rider's Suzuki dodges and weaves from shoulder to shoulder through hundreds of cars, trucks and more leisurely driven motorcycles in perhaps the most intense sequence we had ever seen, until we screened the segment called 'The Stockholm Run'. Here the top end speeds are a bit lower (rarely does he break 250 kph) but the traffic is heavier and much of the route is on two lane roads, forcing him to ride the center line to avoid truck traffic in both directions - a bit like a tight rope walker in a circus performing over a pen of man eating sharks. 'Ghost Rider's' unique instant replay feature ( appearing in the top right hand side of the screen) allows you to blink real fast and prove to yourself that your eyes are NOT playing tricks on you, while not missing a single moment of the action.
The US version DVD includes the original, uncut Swedish version (never thought I'd be saying that here) in the Bonus Material.

1/22/03 UPDATE: GMP's will launch their new series of 1/43 scale Front Engined Dragsters in February. Three Don Garlits Swamp Rats will kick things off. The cars feature some spectacular detail for just $29.95 each. More info on the Die Cast PreOrder page.
1/20/03 UPDATE: Carousel 1 has officially announced a new series of Porsche 935 racing cars in 1/18 scale. We're told the first release has already been produced and is 'on the water'. It is the 1979 IMSA Championship winning Brumos Porsche 935 driven by Peter Gregg. Price is $139.95 and delivery is expected in early March. You can find additional photos HERE.

1/16/03 AFTERNOON UPDATE: We are very impressed with the quality of a new series of Limited Edition Giclee prints featuring recent paintings by Juan Carlos Ferrigno. Three images are currently available, printed on high quality canvas stock and delivered fully framed. It's virtually impossible to tell a giclee print from an original. 1/15/03 UPDATE: Back in
the 1980's a terrific magazine called Grand Prix International
gave extensive reports on each individual Grand Prix. Never before
(or since) have F1 fans been treated to such comprehensive reporting

model of the Ford GT Mk II that won LeMans in 1966 has been delayed

1/14/03 UPDATE: Back in the office after a quick trip to the Autosport International show in the UK. Had some time to catch up with my reading on the flights out and back and can heartily recommend two titles that have recently arrived here at TMC. 'Flat Out, Flat Broke' by Perry McCarthy ($29.95) is not only the funniest book I've read in a long time, it is an extremely revealing inside story of the behind the scenes activities involved with a race driver's efforts in getting, keeping and improving his ride, career and financial viability - not to mention his marriage and sanity. An absolute must read. Mike Lawrence has written a no holds barred biography of the founder of Lotus in 'Colin Chapman: Wayward Genius' ($35.95). No sugar coating here, the dark side of Chapman's genius is presented as it never has been before. A real eye opener.

Brumm's long awaited 1/43 scale Lotus 25 is finally available at a ridiculously low price of $19.00. This is Jim Clark's winning car from the 1963 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.
The latest 1/43 scale LeMans winner from IXO is the 1968 Ford GT40 #9 driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi ($29.95). The other two Gulf team cars (#10 and #11) will be available soon. Reserve now.

Also, perhaps the most significant model to come along, if not for what it is, but what it represents. Kyosho has released the Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona.
This is the first 1/18th Ferrari diecast to be made by a company other than Hot Wheels in 3 years. The box has "Produced under license by Mattel" on it,
but at least it is made by someone else. What's our first impression...it's terriffic! Retail is $64.95, we'll post photos just as soon as we can.

1/3/03 UPDATE: Word from GMP this morning: The first release in their long anticipated 1/18 Penske Sunoco Camaro series, the #36 car driven by Mark Donohue at Daytona in 1967, is due to arrive in the US in about a week. This was the first ever Trans Am entry by Penske Racing.
